For Green Thumbs Only – Dallas Plant Nursery
Posted on Friday Oct 9, 2009 Under InspirationWe are a family with green thumbs. I cannot recall having planted a shrub, a tree or an ornamental that did not grow and bore flowers and fruits. In fact the garden in our backyard is full of flowers and other plants in season. I know our neighbors and our friends envy how we have kept our garden almost in perfect bloom, as the season permits.
We have annuals that bloom in the spring like begonias and periwinkles. We also have perennials that grow and bloom during spring and summer, such as oxalis, day lilies and many more. I remember my dad bringing home some ornamentals and evergreens which he said he bought from a Dallas plant nursery. If I remember right they were an atlas cedar and a type of juniper.
A plant nursery is an interesting place to visit if you are into gardening and want to discover ways to improve your stock of garden plants. Nurseries usually grow their plants in a greenhouse which is actually a building constructed out of glass or plastic. A greenhouse protects young plants from extreme weather conditions so they can grow healthy and ready to be transplanted to our own garden at home.
